Elise and I had an absolute blast at DreamCon this year. Sure, it was a lot of work, but it was a fantastic Con for us in terms of sales. Plus, we got to party and sightsee in the vibrant city of Austin. For those who don’t know, DreamCon is created by the RDC, who are known for their hilarious skits on YouTube, drawing a lot of inspiration from anime and video games. You can see this influence throughout DreamCon. They also value inclusion, like we do, making this con a perfect fit for us. We attended last year, and it was our best con of the year, and this year was just as incredible.
One of the amazing things about DreamCon was its Friday traffic. Usually, Fridays are pretty slow at comic conventions in general, but this one had quality traffic from start to finish. There were tons of people dressed as anime characters like those from JJK, Demon Slayer, and One Piece. Of course, there was lots of classic Akatsuki merch, including some worn by me. On Saturday, Elise represented Terminus Veil with a stunning Badia cosplay. She asked me if I was attracted to the character Badia, and I had to blush and giggle.
We had a great time after the con as well. We ate at a few places in downtown Austin that we enjoyed. Cooper’s BBQ was delicious, and we had great breakfast tacos and coffee at Revolucion. Maiko Sushi Lounge was our excellent Sunday dinner spot before we went to the awesome Trap Sushi party at the Belmont.
Before leaving Austin, we had to check out two landmark spots. My friend Shannon told me I had to go to The Alamo Drafthouse to watch Deadpool and Wolverine, which I enjoyed very much. I loved the pre-show cuts and the cool entrance that resembles the hotel from The Shining. The last stop was Austin Books and Comics, which the awesome comic creator, Dan Price, took me to. This store was humongous, and I bought a few trades to take with me. I also left a few trades as well. That’s right, Austin Books and Comics now has Terminus Veil Volume 1 in stock! Also make sure to check out Dan Price's sensational comic book, Bigfoot Knows Karate.
If you are searching for a "comic con near me," or looking for "upcoming comic conventions," I definitely recommend giving DreamCon a try. The city of Austin has plenty of good eats and fun activities. If it’s in Austin again next year, it’s a must-attend for fans and vendors alike. Whether you're an anime lover, gamer, or cosplayer, DreamCon is one of the best "comic conventions near me" to check out.
