Eazy peazy.

Javier Charles has been an FBI agent for twenty years. Before that he was a detective in the Phoenix Police Department. He's made his name catching two serial killers. He's also, by every reasonable measure, completely corrupt — using the full weight of federal law enforcement to protect the interests of Dr. Clarence while performing the role of a legitimate agent so convincingly that nobody questions it until it's far too late. ESTP — Entrepreneur. He processes people the way other people process data: as assets, liabilities, or obstacles. And he knows exactly which category everyone falls into before the conversation starts.

He wears a worn business suit and a grin that doesn't quit. He sends snow emojis and heartbreak emojis on official video calls. He's charming in the way of someone who's figured out exactly how much warmth it takes to make people let their guard down, and he deploys it with precision. He told Yedo they were friends. He meant it the same way he means everything — as a tool. When he offered Yedo the Kill Shillz bounty as a way to pull the Guardians into the Memphis operation, he wasn't doing Yedo a favor. He was running Dr. Clarence's interests through a federal badge, and he was good at it.

He has a shady network of associates he calls informants. The transactions he runs through them aren't the kind that come with receipts. There's one serial killer who's been evading him for a while — someone he would do anything to catch — and that obsession drives choices the rest of the world doesn't see the edges of. Leslie is his handler on Clarence's side. Wentz learned the hard way what happens when Javier's interests and someone else's survival don't align.

When Taraki named Dr. Clarence in Badia's Gambit, Javier didn't call for backup. He didn't read rights. He drew his pistol, let Taraki finish his confession, and said: "Looks like we're done here." Then he pulled the trigger. "Eazy peazy." That was the last thing Taraki heard. That's who Javier Charles is when the room is small enough that nobody's watching. And he assumes every room is that small, because he's spent thirty years making sure of it.
